New profit-sharing scheme for growth in wages and salaries planned
Bad Oeynhausen – As from 1 June 2006, Balda AG wants to give its employees
a share in its profits. The specialist for components in high-performance
plastics intends to key the increase of its German employees’ wages and
salaries to the profit situation of the respective company. ‘Balda is not
governed by collective agreements, and for this reason we can orientate
ourselves towards the situation of the company,’ explains Volker Brinkmann,
chief financial officer (CFO). The new profit-sharing scheme will use the
pre-tax earnings (EBT) of the respective group subsidiary as the basis for
its calculations. ‘We invited the works councils to talks about the
implementation of such a profit-sharing scheme. Among others the key for
the distribution among the individual employees has to be fixed. This will
allow us to do in Germany what has been the norm for years in Asia and
Brazil: a performance-related bonus at year-end. The profit-sharing scheme
gives employees the chance to share in the performance of their company.
Moreover, we expect it to further strengthen motivation and
cost-consciousness among our employees,’ Brinkmann explains.
